The wolverine is the largest terrestrial mustelid and is found throughout the Arctic. Its status and ecology remain poorly understood, largely because it is elusive and occupies remote habitats. Wolverine occur in small numbers throughout their range and their productivity is often closely tied to the fate of caribou and wolf populations. Globally, the World Conservation Union (IUCN) has listed the wolverine as “vulnerable.”
